Good afternoon. My name is Mark Pokorni. I am calling in regard to the Evanston city council’s proposal to increase the wholesale natural gas use tax to 2.5 cents per therm. Does your organization buy gas from wholesalers or from NICOR?

The City Council is prepared to vote on this increase for the 2004 budget. They need to hear from you about how this tax increase will have a deleterious effect on your home. To help, we need you to call the Evanston Chamber of Commerce and report the number of therms purchased buy your organization in 2003. You can check your gas bill or you can call the company from whom you purchase gas.

We need you to have this done ASAP because the vote on including this tax will be held this week.
